Department of Bioengineering

Bioengineering is a multidisciplinary field that combines engineering principles with biology, aiming to understand living systems and to develop innovative methods for solving problems within these systems. Encompassing subfields such as bioprocess, genetic, tissue, molecular, metabolic, and biomedical engineering, this field produces modern solutions in the health, food, environment, energy, and pharmaceutical sectors.

The Department of Bioengineering at Ege University was established in 2000 and holds the distinction of being the first department founded in this field in Türkiye. In its early years, it achieved international success by being selected as a “National Center of Excellence” in European Union projects.

The language of instruction in our department is 100% English. In addition to the undergraduate program, there are also master’s and doctoral programs, providing our students with academic and professional opportunities on a global scale. The quality of our education has been internationally recognized through MÜDEK accreditation, which is valid until 2026 for the 30% English program.

Thanks to our modern laboratories, exchange programs such as Erasmus+ and Orhun, and interdisciplinary research projects, our students graduate not only with engineering knowledge but also as innovative, inquisitive individuals with a global vision.
